BLOOMING PLANT BASKET AND PLANTER
CARE
Water
Your blooming basket or planter contains multiple
plants. Baskets are lined with plastic liners and planters are
usually solid, allowing you to water the plants while
they’re still in the container. Water when the surface soil
feels dry to the touch. Water thoroughly and pour off any excess
water so the plants do not stand in water.
Light
and Temperature
Bright, filtered light is preferred. Do not place the
plants in direct sunlight as this tends to burn the plants. Most
blooming plants will bloom longest in cool temperatures (55-70
degrees.) Avoid placing them under air conditioning
outlets.
Fertilize
Periodically fertilize your plants. Follow directions
on the manufacturer’s label.
To promote more blooms, pinch faded blossoms.
Fresh
Flowers
If your basket or planter contains fresh cut flowers,
be aware that those flowers are in water tubes pushed into the
soil. Those water tubes will need to be filled with water
daily.
ORCHID PLANT CARE
Orchids flower year round, but most heavily in the
fall & spring.
Water
Keep evenly moist, not soggy. Water in the morning
with tepid water, normally on a weekly basis. During the winter
heating season when air is drier, you may mist your
orchid.
Light
& Temperature
Your orchid prefers filtered light and
temperatures between 60-85 degrees. Do not place in direct sun or
in drafty areas.
Fertilizer
Feed monthly in warm months with Orchid specific
fertilizer. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions as note
on the tag attached to your planter.
MINIATURE ROSE BUSH CARE
You may enjoy your mini rose bushes
indoors for a few weeks, but they’ll thrive when planted
outdoors.
Light
Plant in a sunny location in good garden soil once
the threat of frost has passed.
Water
Keep soil moderately moist.
Fertilizer
Fertilize your miniature rose bush periodically
according to manufacturer’s directions.
Tips
for success
In early spring, cut back to 3”-4”.
The roses will flourish during the growing season.
They are hardy through most winters.
AFRICAN VIOLET CARE
Light
African Violets like bright, filtered light. Do not
place in direct sun as this tends to burn the delicate violet
foliages.
Temperature
Moderate room temperature is preferred. Cold
temperatures and drafts will shorten the period of
bloom.
Water
Water thoroughly from the bottom when soil feels dry
to the touch. Do not get water on the leaves of the plants as
this will mar the leaves.
Fertilizer
Fertilize periodically using an African Violet
Fertilizer according to the manufacturer’s
directions.
Tips
for Success
To encourage new blooms, remove spent
flowers.
GREEN PLANT CARE
Light
Select a location with moderately bright light. Do
not place in direct sun as this tends to burn the foliage. Place
near a sunny window, away from drafts, during the winter
months.
Water
Water thoroughly when the soil is dry to the touch.
Avoid over watering and do not allow plants to stand in
water.
Temperature
Avoid excessive heat or cold.
Fertilizer
Fertilize periodically according to
manufacturer’s directions.
Fresh
Flowers
If your plant contains fresh cut flowers, be aware
that those flowers are in water tubes pushed into the soil. Those
water tubes will need to be filled with water daily.
POINSETTIA
CARE
Light
Moderately bright light is best, but
poinsettias will tolerate low light. Do not place in direct
sun.
Water
Moderately moist soil is preferred. Water thoroughly
when soil feels dry to the touch. Do not let Poinsettias stand in
water.
Temperature
Moderate temperatures of 65-70 degrees are ideal.
Avoid excessive heat or cold and avoid drafts.
Fertilizer
Fertilize periodically according to
manufacturer’s directions.
Tips
for success
Bright light and cool night temperatures will help
delay flower bud drop and maintain brightly colored
blooms.
